The EAA Flight Advisor Program was developed because of the alarming number of accidents during the first few flights of newly completed Home Built Aircraft, or in the first few flights of newly acquired or recently purchased aircraft. Since the introduction of the Flight Advisor's program the accident ration has been significantly reduced. The program was designed to pair the pilot with an experienced pilot (EAA appointed Flight Advisor) who can coach the new pilot during their first flights in their newly built or recently acquired aircraft.
