Take a look at the Sandusky Register online Saturday (7/3/10). Nice pictures of the “Tin Goose”. Thats it! NO description of where, when, who, why . . . who cares? The poor EAA folks in Port Clinton should send a bill to the Register for using the pictures online. Thanks, Register, for your up-to-date information for public interest. There was nothing about in the printed paper today either. But I am really enjoying the four-day article on the Lonz Winery tragedy that happened 10 YEARS AGO. Maybe in 10 years we will read about the Tin Goose event being held at Port Clinton and finally find out where and when it took place?

Also, while I'm on my soapbox, EAA Chapter #50 got no recognition for the scholarships it gave to the area high school students this year. It's like, "Who really cares? These are good kids anyway." How about EAA #50 pay for conceal carry weapon classes for the EMS people? We would be able to help at least 10-15 people get their permit. That way, the paramedics can shoot their way in, save a life, and then shoot their way out. Now that would . . . no wait, should . . . get the attention of someone . . . maybe?

One thing for sure, when you are writing a column as provocative as mine, you simply never run out of information to write about. Then you hope that some people read, understand, and agree!

Well folks today the “ole” boy is again hammering the government, on an old new subject you should be very concerned about, especially if you’re an aircraft owner. Past columns have suggested our government steals dollars in the form of taxes, and you all know that’s a fact! What I really hate is when our good ole elected officials tax us, but try to HIDE the TAX! The dummies call the TAX user fees! National and States have so many fees you could never count them all.

Lets talk about our brothers and sisters at the FAA, eeeeeeeek! Currently, when you buy or an aircraft, change your address etc. you complete FAA form 8050-1. After completion the FAA will send you a form 8050-3 “registration”. If for some reason the aircraft is pulled from service , damaged or destroyed, you are required to complete the reverse side of the certificate under 14CFR47.41. You then report condition of aircraft every three years after notice from FAA with no fee, also known as taxes!

Now here is where the problem begins. The FAA has been lax about sending out forms in a timely manner, if at all! Naturally. the elected dummies see the solution to that problem as hiring more people and then taxing you and me to pay for more government! Will it never cease?

In the NPRM, the FAA purposes a system where the certificate will expire every three years from the date of issue BUT would be renewable by the aircraft owner completing a renewal request. But now, in addition to completion sending another a fee, Ha Ha TAX! Look out - big catch coming at you! Failure to reregister with a completed form and fee (whoops I mean TAX) will result in the expiration of the aircraft's certificate and the N number cancelled. The responsibility of the every three year registration will lie squarely on the shoulders of you and I and other aircraft owners! Even if the FAA fails to send out a notice, and they will, you are responsible. There are other proposals in the NPRM, but that’s more fodder for a future column. At this writing the SUGGESTED fee, (TAX) is Five Dollars. Let's see in my case that’s $5.00 X 3 = $15.00 more money to our elected officials. Doesn’t sound like much in the beginning, but open the doors and how quickly user fees go up up and away!

Now, one more important item! In February of 2008, the FAA announced it was phasing out paper airman certificates! Have you procrastinated? Well, you'd better get hot . . . you have until March 31, 2010 to replace it with plastic by form completion and a $2.00 check or money order made out to the FAA. Failure to comply? You will not be able to exercise your flying privileges except for temporary certificates issued under 61.17 or a student pilot certificate issued under paragraph (B) of CFR61.19 (h).

Until we read and write again, “Happy Flying”!

Well it’s a new year, but have things begun to change in Washington, after the first year of the “good ole boy” that was elected on change, change, change, and his majority party controlled idiots? Ha ha ha ha! The same idiots, who criticized automobile executives for their use of their companies private aircraft, haven’t stopped flying“Air-force One” and other aircraft since they got in office! Tax Payers, have to buy additional aircraft, because the current ones will need a complete time overhaul before these guys are gone! The only real problem here is the US President is not solving world problems, he’s just selling himself! What can you expect from a smart man that convinced a bunch of small minded, and/or, uneducated thinkers to vote him into office?! Baby, don’t blame this ole bird man! When I was a young man, working for government, whether it is city state or national was just an average job, not today! After all my years in the insurance business, I have sold a lot of great retirement plans including my own, but I’ll tell you this, never did I have the benefit packages to market, offered government workers today! Now I’m not disappointed in someone taking the job. I’m disappointed in who created it and why! Where does the money come from? Only one place, from all of us out there busting our a---- to pay taxes! It’s very clear the government doesn’t EARN money. They steal it from tax payers! How would you like to work for the FAA? Man if I was fresh out of college and wanting to climb the social ladder, my application would be in review! The economy is in the dumper, the President and Congress would apparently like a socialist society, I understand some government workers are getting a 2.5% raise, that was apparently diverted from retirees on Social Security, which by the way we were required to participate in! The same money coped from you and your employer’s as SS tax, invested in one of my former company’s smallest programs, would have given a much bigger percentage of return! That’s one of the differences why the Washington nuts hate private business! Well back to the FAA after all of the above this screwed up organization, took its Supervisors to Atlanta for a FIVE MILLION DOLLAR PARTY! Did I forget to say you and I, paid for that event?! That’s all right it’s for moral boosting. Their SIX figure salaries can’t boost their moral! I guess the small minded thinking is the Tax payer can boost it!

I swear to you we are becoming a country of idiots! I know all of you have heard your older relatives talk about the changes and how much better it was in the old days. I guess that’s what many of you expect this ole boy, to say! I can only defend myself, and say to you, I love most of the modern new ideas, glass panels, great telephones, new TV pictures, heck I even have a computer and know how to use it! It’s also true, I hate the violent video games, parents allow children to play, the horrible movies, lousy TV and the never-ending commercials, the lack of family experiences together, and those crummy politicians we are electing, who are not accountable to the American people who elected them! I ask you how can some clown we put in office, sit down and vote legislation into law, that the majority of the American people are so much against? Take our Senator, pretty boy Sherod Brown, elected for a so-called change, but laughs in the face of the majority! Somehow I guess, when Senators and Reps are elected they get a douse of Einstein’s Brains! I wish! The USA airlines fly many millions of people all over the world, but do the elected boys think our safety requires proper funding the FAA? No just put it off and off and off! Shucks though, we can bail out a bank, fund a bridge to no where to name a few! The tragedies is, we voting Americans, just keep reelecting these same folks over and over and over! Is a revolution the real cure? It’s happened before. We OLD guys just got to wake up this group of small thinking, go along with anything, believe anything, type of voter in this good ole USA, that is content to think about fulfilling obligations only for themselves, and not the majority of American people! Hey, did you see where our big time lawyers are suing the FAA in Florida? It seems some pilot tried to land in BAD weather, lost the aircraft and killed himself and two other souls on board! Well the ambulance chasing attorneys have apparently convenience the relatives it was the FAA’s fault. Gee folks! The FAA didn’t tell the pilot the weather was bad! O-Really! Perhaps if we had a maximum amount of settlement the Ambulance Chasers could collect, it would not be so easy to try to blame the one with deep pockets!
